The Royal Palace says Jordan’s Queen Rania has undergone a non-surgical procedure in New York to correct an irregular heart beat.
The 40-year-old queen accompanied her husband, King Abdallah, who attended the UN General Assembly meetings in New York. She also attended separate functions, including a panel on empowering girls.“The procedure is a cauterization through a vein to the heart. It is used to treat abnormal heart rhythms, or premature ventricular contractions, which is a common condition,” the palace statement said. “During the procedure, an electric current is used to stop the disturbance of electrical flow through the heart, thus restoring a healthy heart rhythm.”
